Ashley
Prendiville keeps the Ladies tradition of top class handball
alive in Ballymac after winning the Girls U15 Leinster Open
on Sunday last. Ashley defeated Anne Marie Hawe 21/10, 21/12 in
the final.On Saturday Ashley defeated Leona Doolin 21/2, 21/3
and Claire Love 21/9, 21/9 to earn her place in the final.
Lisa Falvey under 15 also from Ballymac took part in the
open. She defeated Katie Costello 21/9, 21/15 and was defeated
by 21/2 21/5 by Clair Love in the next round.
Also on Sunday Fiona McKenna (Belfast) defeated Maria Daly
(Ballymac) in the semi final of the Ladies Open 21/15, 16/21,
21/15.This was a very strong performance by Maria up against the
top senior player in the country. Maria is not yet eighteen.
Earlier in the day Fiona McKenna defeated Sharon Daly also from
Ballymac 21/15, 21/13.
The Ballymacelligott Handball Club hosted
The Eileen Twomey Memorial Tournament for girls today Saturday
10th October. Eileen Twomey played Handball for Ballymacelligott
in the eighties and this tournament is run to commemorate her
contribution to Handball. This is an annual tournament and was
a great success again . The winners and runners-up are as follows:
The Runners-up the "B" Final were: Elaine Ryall
(Abbeydorney), Maedbh Prendiville (Ballymac), Eabha Ring and
Niamh Moriarty (Tralee)
The Winners of the "B" Final were: Sharon Twomey,
Laura Keane (Ballymac), Louise Ni Mhuircheartaigh (An Ghaeltacht),
Aoife Dillane and Cloe Murphy (Tralee)
The Runners-up the "A" Final were: Karen Lawlor
(Tralee) Siobhan Ni Chonchuir & Eilis Ni Luing (An Ghaeltacht)
and Hazel Prendiville (Ballymac)
The Winners of the "A" Final were: Brenda Carmody,
Naomi Sullivan & Aine Casey (Ballymac) and Fiona Ni Chathain
(An Ghaeltacht)

Handball Club is currently running its Annual Pub Quiz.
The final night of the quiz will take place on Thursday next
the 14th November commencing at 10.00pm at The Half Way. The
Quiz is being run this year to help fund the development that
has been done at the Handball Alleys over the past number of
months. We appreciate all the support we got over the past two
nights.
